The Masters Historic Racing meet at Silverstone this past weekend (24th – 25th August, 2024), delivered an electrifying display of motorsport heritage, attracting thousands of enthusiasts to the iconic British circuit. As proud sponsors of Masters Historic Racing, our Director of MYSEA London – Tim Clark – headed to the track and spent the weekend chatting with car owners, teams and drivers, presenting winners with prizes on the podium. With wet conditions that made spectating all the more exhilarating, historic racing machines battled it out, evoking nostalgia and showcasing the enduring appeal of classic motorsport.
Silverstone, a track synonymous with racing history, served as the perfect backdrop for a weekend celebrating the golden era of motorsport. The Masters Historic Racing series is known for its dedication to preserving and showcasing historic race cars, and this year’s meet did not disappoint.
The sight and sound of vintage Formula One, Sports Cars, and Touring Cars hurtling around Silverstone’s sweeping bends and straights brought back memories of an era when mechanical grip, driver skill, and raw power were the defining characteristics of racing. The paddocks were filled with awe-struck spectators, admiring the machinery that once defined the pinnacle of motorsport.
The event was headlined by the Hart family’s triumph in the Masters Sports Car Legends race, where David and Olivier Hart claimed victory in their Ferrari 512M, avenging their 2023 defeat. Stuart Hall mastered wet conditions to win the Masters Racing Legends race, while Jon Minshaw navigated chaos to emerge victorious in the Masters GT Trophy. The weekend concluded with an epic battle in the Masters Gentlemen Drivers finale, where Olivier Hart edged out Julian Thomas.
This weekend provided a thrilling mix of nostalgia and high-stakes racing, showcasing the skill and tenacity of drivers across multiple historic categories.
While the on-track action was the main draw, the Silverstone meet also offered race-goers a chance to immerse themselves in the broader world of historic motorsport. The paddocks were open to the public, allowing close-up views of the cars and the opportunity to meet the drivers and teams. The car clubs present added to the atmosphere, with rows of classic road cars on display, from Jaguars to Aston Martins, making the event a paradise for car enthusiasts. The sight of these machines, some driven by their original pilots, brought history to life and drew huge cheers from the crowd.
